Select Facet Rough - Page 2 (H-S)

What I want to do on this page is highlight some of the select facet rough stone that I have.

The idea is to give you an indication of some of the material I have and let you have first option on having it cut in a design that you want. Otherwise I'll cut them in due course in which ever design I happen to decide upon. So if you see something that you really like and think, geez... that'd make a fantastic Smith Bar (or something), let me know! :-)

This rough is not for sale as rough.

Lapis Lazuli

	Stone : Lapis Lazuli Item : #r107 Origin : Afghanistan Weight : Large Clarity : N/A Comments : Lapis lazuli is probably in my top 3 favourite stones of all time. I just love the colour! This is some top material from Afghanistan which produces the best in the world. I have some ideas for this material so stay tuned. 	Stone : Lapis Lazuli Item : #r108 Origin : Afghanistan Weight : Large Clarity : N/A Comments : Lapis lazuli is probably in my top 3 favourite stones of all time. I just love the colour! You can see why lapis was so desired and used to make the special ultramarine pigment that the old masters used in oil paintings. This is some top material from Afghanistan which produces the best in the world. I have some ideas for this material so stay tuned. These pieces here are medium sized. This particular material is very fine grained and is premium quality! * Photographed semi wet... this gives an indication of how it would appear when polished.

Peridot

	Stone : Peridot Item : #r138 Origin : Pakistan Treatment : None Weight : 11.6 carats Clarity : Eye Clean Comments : A gorgeous green Pakistani peridot that will cut a beautiful gemstone. This Pakistani material is getting very difficult to obtain in top qualities.
	Stone : Peridot Item : #r121 Origin : Pakistan Treatment : None Weight : 5ct to 20ct+ Clarity : Eye Clean to Very Slightly Included Comments : Pakistani peridot is one of the most sought after peridots due to its lovely apple green tones. Alot of peridot has strong olive overtones but the Pakistani material seems to have less of this. This material looks great when cut.

Smokey Quartz

	Stone : Smokey Quartz Item : #r131 Origin : O'Briens Creek, North Queensland, Australia Treatment : None Weight : Large to Small Clarity : Eye Clean to Very Slightly Included Comments : I have a range of natural UNTREATED smokey quartz from O'Briens Creek, NQ. This is great material and ranges in tone and saturation from very light through to very dark. The vast majority of smokey quartz in the marketplace has been treated in some manner, such as being heated or irradiated. Natural untreated smokey quartz is a very beautiful gem when cut and this material has some quite lovely tones, like burnt umbers, raw umbers and bronzes. All of this material has been hand dug with much sweat and labour by moi. :-) SEE A GEM CUT FROM THIS ROUGH HERE

Black Spinel

	Stone : Black Spinel Item : #r113 Origin : Rubyvale, Central Queensland, Australia Weight : 15ct+ Clarity : Opaque Comments : This is something that you don't see everyday. Black spinel is true spinel but is not transparent, rather it is opaque and when cut is absolutely fantastic if you are into black gemstones, like onyx and jet. It gets it black colouring from the iron content and is very hard, being 8 on the moh scale. This material is great for a men's ring... or at least I think so.

Rose Quartz

	Stone : Rose Quartz Item : #r129 Origin : Brazil Treatment : None Weight : Large Clarity : Eye Clean to Very Slightly Included Comments : This is devine rose quartz that has a beautiful soft, pink, dreamy appearance. It is very clean and does facet wonderfully. This is top quality material. SEE A GEM CUT FROM THIS ROUGH HERE
