Comments : A very nicely coloured and toned smokey quartz! This is not your average run-of-the-mill irradiated black/grey smokey that you see so much of in the market place... this is the real, natural thing. Smokey quartz can be a very beautiful gemstone when it is cut well and has just the right saturation. I couldn't name exactly what the colour tones were so I had a look at the colour charts for "Old Holland" painting oils and figured that the closest matches were "Raw Umber" and "Metalic Bronze". This is an especially nice smokey! It was cut from a piece that I hand dug myself in the hole that I have been working all season. I think this stone would be sensational set in gold!
A wonderful smokey like this would make a worthy addition to any collector's brag box... after all, when was the last time you saw a precision cut natural smokey in a modern design?
