Comments : This is a very nice collection of gemstones cut in the modern Smith Bar design. These are all exceptional gems.
From top left clockwise :
(a) 8.65ct 10x13mm natural (pale) blue topaz from O'Briens Ck
(b) 2.60ct 9x7mm citrine madeira
(c) 1.10ct 5x7mm tourmaline teal coloured
(d) 2.60ct 6.5x9mm tourmaline bi-coloured (raspberry/gold)
(e) 2.35ct 6x9mm tourmaline bi-coloured (raspberry/gold)

The two bi-coloured tourmalines came up really nice and even though one is slightly wider I think they are a good matched pair.
Stone : Natural Blue Topaz
Cut By : Doug Menadue, 2009
Item : #suite4
Design : Mock Check Square (Jeff Graham)
Origin : O'Briens Creek, Mt Surprise, Australia
Treatments : None
Weight : 24.8 ct
Clarity : Eye Clean
Size : 15.5mm X 15.5mm
Price : SOLD (COMMISSIONED)
Comments : These two exceptional O'Briens Creek Topaz were commissioned by a couple of friends out on the gemfields. They wanted a large pair of matching stones in this modern design. Each stone is matching down to the natural
blue colour zone running along the keel of each stone. They look absolutely dynamite! The pictures do not do them justice. Due to the orientation of the stones the blue does not show very strongly rather it gives them very effective blue "highlights".
(a, b) 24.8ct, 15.5mm x 15.5mm "Mock Check Square"
Stone : Natural Blue Topaz
Cut By : Doug Menadue, 2009
Item : #suite3
Design : Signature #3, Brilliant Marquise
Origin : O'Briens Creek, Mt Surprise, Australia
Treatments : None
Weight : Various
Clarity : Eye Clean
Size : Various
Price : SOLD
Comments : These two topaz are what I call "sibling stones" as they are cut from the same topaz crystal. They are both predominately a silvery white with blue colour zoning. The larger marquise gem has a much stronger blue colour zone then its smaller sibling... it came from the top half of the topaz crystal.
Together they make a beautiful matching set and this is how I am selling them. I really want to see them kept together and I won't be spliting them up and selling them separately. When you see them together you'll understand why. The marquise is like a big sister and I can see it making a great and eye-catching pendant... the little brother will be the ring.
They both have a very playful nature with the blue colour flashing and dancing around the gems. A truely delightful pair of gems!
I've included a picture of the original topaz crystal which I have already cut in half. From the side it appears clear but when you view the stone from the top you see the blue colour. Natural blue topaz when it occurs with colour zones is very sensitive to correct orientation in order to bring out the best blue possible.
(a) 8.64ct, 12mm x 17.5mm "Brilliant Marquise"
(b) 4.75ct, 8mm x 10.6 "Signature #3"
